CoRe Researchers Appointed as Professors
On 1 June 2026, President Petr Pavel presented the letters of appointment to the new professors. Prof. Ondřej Beran is an Excellent Researcher in Research Project 1: Conflict in Thought and Deputy Head of Research Project 5: Conflict and Manipulation, and Prof. Libuše Heczková is a Key Expert in Research Project 2: Conflict of Identities.
Prof. Mgr. Ondřej Beran, Ph.D., Professor of Philosophy
Prof. Ondřej Beran works at the Institute of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Pardubice.
Prof. Beran is a philosopher specializing primarily in the philosophy of language, ethics, and the history of philosophy. He completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, with a dissertation on the relationship between language and individuality under the supervision of Prof. Jaroslav Peregrin. He participates in doctoral education and serves on several scientific and disciplinary councils. In addition to his scholarly publications, he has long been dedicated to popularizing philosophy through lectures, public debates, and articles for the general public.
Prof. Libuše Heczková, Ph.D., Professor of the Theory and History of Modern Czech Literature
Prof. Libuše Heczková serves as director of the Department of Czech Literature and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. She was appointed upon the recommendation of the Scientific Board of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.
Her main areas of interest include 20th-century literature and cultural history, gender studies, literary theory, and the pedagogy of literature. She is the author and co-author of books on modern Czech history, literature, and feminism. She collaborated on the project Civilizovaná žena (Civilized Woman, with Martina Pachmanová in 2021) and is a co-author of the five-volume history of 20th-century Czech literature století Dějiny nové/„nové“ moderny (History of the New Modernism, 2010–2026). She is the editor of a series of anthologies, most recently on Božena Němcová (2021) and Eliška Krásnohorská (2019), and the editor and founder of the journal Slovo a smysl: Časopisu pro mezioborová bohemistická studia (Word & Sense: A Journal for Interdisciplinary Czech Studies).
