The international workshop focuses on the activity known as samizdat, its history and present. The workshop will take place at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (nám. Jana Palacha 1/2, Prague 1, room No. P325 and P313), from 30 October to 18 December 2025. It is organised by doc. Libuše Heczková from the Department of Czech and Comparative Literature at CU FA, Dr Hana Kosáková from the Department of East European Studies at CU FA, and Prof Tomáš Glanc from Universität Zürich.

The main goal of the workshop is to answer the following questions: “What is the purpose of the samizdat archive? Does samizdat still have meaning and significance today?” Thanks to the international participants, the course presents these questions in various, different perspectives.
