International Conference | Preaching and Conflict
The symposium within the OP JAK CoRe project titled “Preaching and Conflict: 24th International Medieval Sermon Studies Symposium” will take place on 11–16 July 2024 in Prague. The conference is co-organized by Prof Lucie Doležalová from the Institute of Greek and Latin Studies at CU FA and Dr Pavel Soukup from the Centre for Medieval Studies of the Institute of Philosophy at the Czech Academy of Sciences.
Preaching and conflict is a strong theme, with the poster session presenting 15 projects by emerging researchers. The conference will host 46 participating guests from 16 countries and 44 passive participants. Another 21 students and teachers from six partner universities will arrive via the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme and, apart from the symposium, they will attend a special programme at the National Library, where they will have the opportunity to study relevant medieval manuscripts.
The conference also includes an accompanying programme in Czech towns Sázava and Kutná Hora and excursions to the Jewish Museum, the Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia, and the Nostic Library. Overall, the programme should contribute to the internationalisation of CU FA and showed the importance of interdisciplinary medieval studies.
