Researchers’ Night is an event that brings life to hundreds of science buildings that are usually inaccessible. Researchers from the CoRe project will, amongst others, take part in its organisation. The theme of this year’s edition is “Communication”. The event takes place at several locations across the Czech Republic, is intended for the general public, and the admission is free.

Umění mystel, umění diskutovat / The Art of Thinking, The Art of Discussion

Dr Matěj Král will lead a workshop “Umění myslet, umění diskutovat” (The Art of Thinking, The Art of Discussion). Visitors will try out techniques that encourage reflective thinking and open, respectful discussion on the “big questions” that divide society. Through thought experiments, they will reflect on critical thinking, the good life, virtual worlds, and our relationship with the environment. In mock discussions with instructors, they will learn how to justify their views, listen to different perspectives, ask questions, and seek compromise or consensus. The methods used are published on the Umění myslet (Art of Thinking) portal – an output of the CoRe project, Research Project 1 (Conflict in Thought).

Dezinformace a boj s nimi z pohledu mezinárodního práva / Disinformation and the Fight against It from the Perspective of International Law

JUDr. Milan Lipovský, Ph.D., will hold a lecture on the discourse of disinformation, in which accusations are frequently levelled at various states for spreading or supporting the spread of disinformation. As this phenomenon currently manifests itself primarily in cyberspace, a number of questions arise regarding the readiness of international law to respond to disinformation campaigns. This article will therefore briefly examine some well-known disinformation campaigns and then outline the rules of international law that are debated in legal scholarship as theoretically appropriate. Researcher Dr Lipovský is part of CoRe’s Research Project 5 – Conflict and Manipulation.
